A defense verdict was returned after two hours of deliberation, following a one week trial, in favor of the client, a manufacturer of athletic shoes. Plantiff, an insurance adjuster and recreational basketball league player, sustained an anterior cruciate ligament tear, which he claimed was caused by a defect in the basketball shoe he was wearing. A pretrial demand of $610,000 was lowered to $490,000 before trial; jury returned a defense verdict.
